The original Universal Studios park, Universal Studios Hollywood opened more than 85 years ago to visitors to the silent-film studio. Back then visitors were escorted through the working studio. The park is now not only a theme park but also still a working studio located in Hollywood, CA. In 1962 MCA took over Universal Pictures and their accountants suggested a tour stop at the studio commissary to increase profits. In 1964, the studio tour was expanded to include sneak peeks at productions being filmed at the studio and several dressing room walk-throughs. Shortly thereafter the tour also included a few stage events. Since those days the park has continued to grow into the park we know today but the tram tour of the studio's "active" backlot is still offered along with the many rides, attractions and shows.
Although many of the parks attractions are also offered at it's sister parks in Orlando, Universal Studios Florida and
Islands of Adventure, they are not exactly the same and are actually some of our favorites at this park because of the differences. We won't be covering this park to the extent that we do the Universal Orlando locations but you will find many photos and some videos in this section to show you just how wonderful this park is.
