So as I am browsing around my own site, I reallized that the What's new section is pretty old!
Actually the site has had a ton of content and improvement since the last "whats new" update. Poke around and you might be amazed at what you might find.
9/22/2008 12:00:00 AM
Totally new site!
You may not have noctied but OrlandoRocks.com is actually completely new. How is it new if it looks the same?
Well not to get too technical but OrlandoRocks has been mostly written in an older web development language called ASP. In order to take the site further, it needed to be re-written in a new technology call .NET.
Not as easy as it may sound, tens of thousans of line of code had to be completely re-written.
The good news is that is is done. The site you see now is all .NET. This will allow us to bring more features to you over the next few months.

We've been busy little beavers (or whatever animal works really hard and late into the night) lately. Russ is still pecking along working on a super surprise for everyone. I know it seems like we've been saying this forever but he had a few setbacks and issues that had to be cared to before he could continue working on the big surprise. I promise you it's going to be SOOOOO worth it!
All the new descriptions and updates are almost done for the Non Florida locations. There has been a new addition to Non Florida also (although it hasn't been added to the drop-down menu yet). Russ took a much deserved and needed one week cruise aboard the Carnival Legend. He brought back over 700 pictures of his trip and they are already up for you to enjoy as well as a description of the cruise. Also added was Sanibel Island to the Locations section. I spent a week there last July and have finally gotten around to getting the pictures and a description up on the site. I'll be returning there again this July to get more sun, relaxation and photos for you all to enjoy.
As for the parks, we haven't been ignoring them either. Jungala at Busch Gardens Africa got added to the site along with a few photos of the new area. Russ has also been going out to get construction photos for you. He's going every couple of days or so and bringing back some great photos of Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit at Universal Studios, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure and even finding time to stop by SeaWorld to get photos of Manta. We've also been working on the Universal Lodging adding better descriptions to each of the resorts and each and everyone of the 17 Disney Resorts have gotten updated descriptions as well as updated pricing and season dates for each. Refurbishments have also been updated although the only changes were at Disney's Hollywood Studios and can be seen by going to Disney's Hollywood Studios Refurbishments. I am trying to update the refurbishments every two weeks as things change fast at the parks so if you're planning a trip to a WDW Park make sure you check back for refurbishment updates often.
I think that's about it for now (hopefully that's enough to satisfy you). As always, take the time to stop by the Discussion Board and let us know how we're doing or if you have any juicy gossip, rumors, news or a question you are just dying to have answered. We're always here waiting to hear from you! Until next time, HAPPY SURFING!

What's New Now
Well, I almost hate to call this new content as it was all done once before but because of our hacker it is all having to be done over again (this time it's being saved just in case).
I have DCA, Disneyland, Downtown Disney District California, Cedar Point, Kings Island, Knott's Berry Farm, Universal Hollywood, Australia, Santa Monica, Seattle and Las Vegas re-updated and I should have the rest of the Non Florida locations finished within the next week (taking some time off for Memorial Day) hopefully.
Russ is also still busily working on the behind-the-scenes surprises (or rather back at it after our little time in hackville) and is stopping by almost daily to get photos of the construction on both the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Rip, Ride Rock-it.
To say that things are moving along is an understatement and now that we can get back to actually working on the site rather than fixing the site there is no where to go but up and away!
Hope you all have a great Memorial Day and Happy Surfing!

Behind the Scenes Changes and More
Well there has been a lot of work done lately on the site. Most of it has been behind the scenes though. I'm sure some of you have noticed a few glitches here and there/on and off but hopefully everything is back to normal. If any of you notice anything missing, not working, weird (other than pictures of Russ!) please take a minute and give us the heads up on what you found. We will get to solving the situation as soon as possible.
There has been a few new Media Guests added to the MegaCon line-up and a few guests have been removed. We're in the process of planning that weekend so that we can bring you as much of the festivities as possible.
We've also added a few pictures to the Disaster page. Take a minute and check those out.
The performers and performance dates along with other information on this years' EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival. It looks like this year is going to be a great one. Although I did notice while adding the performers that Flo & Eddie aren't attending this year. They will be greatly missed as they have been a cornerstone for this event for year.
That's about all for now. Keep checking the site for new and updated information.
1/7/2008 12:00:00 AM
It's 2008 and the year is beginning in a big way at OrlandoRocks. Russ ended the year in Las Vegas and he has brought back a ton of new pictures and videos. They haven't all made their way onto the site yet but I'm sure he's hard at work getting them up for you all to enjoy.
All of the holiday festivities are over and now we're all getting ready for the next round of events. Mardi Gras at Universal Studios is quickly approaching and we've already updated all of the performers that will be appearing. Also, MegaCon is right around the corner and we're excited to get to bring you all the fun this event has to offer.
As usual, any questions or comments you have about the site, attractions, events, or whatever can be posted on the Discussion Board. Until next time, have a great week and keep surfing!

End of Year News
Well, Christmas is going to be here in a week and then we'll start saying goodbye to 2007. There has been a lot happen this year. We've started reporting on some new events, added new attractions, updated attractions and brought you a lot of new photos and videos.
One of the new events we've been bringing you is MegaCon. The 2008 event is shaping up to be the largest to date. New guests are being added all the time. We've been trying to update the guests once a week but with the holidays looming in front of us it probably will not be updated again until the new year. Keep checking though and if you get the chance make the journey to the Orange County Convention Center to see all the happenings first-hand. Even if you don't think this is your cup of tea (or coffee, whichever you prefer) this event is fun and interesting.
Some of the newly added attractions this year have included Aquatica, which will be officially opening in March 2008; Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios, which will be opening Spring 2008; Busch Gardens Europe; and a lot more. Keep your eyes on OrlandoRocks for more information on these attractions and anything new we find.
Several attractions have closed or been updated this year including Earthquake at Universal Studios, which has been closed to give the park a new attraction Disaster! A Major Motion Picture Ride; Back To The Future also at Universal Studios, which is being replaced by the above mentioned Simpsons Ride; and Spaceship Earth at EPCOT, which closed for five-months to get a new narrator, new and updated scenes and more.
To say this year has been busy is an understatement but we can't think of anything we'd rather work on than writing about the city we love, ORLANDO. We hope you all have enjoyed sharing this year with us and will continue to enjoy the site as much as we enjoy bringing it to you. The new year promises to bring us a lot more to talk about so watch the site for any new developments.
Thank you from all of us here at OrlandoRocks and have a Happy and Safe Holiday Season.
See you in 2008!

Finally a new "What's New"
It's been quite a while since there was a new "What's New" due to illness but we're back and have tons of stuff to tell you about.
We've updated or added a lot of the holiday information on the site including:
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights
Holidays Around the World
Pleasure Island New Year's Eve
Festival of the Seasons
New Year's Eve at Cirque du Soleil
Atlantic Dance Hall New Year's Eve
New Year's Eve at CityWalk
But that isn't all that's been going on. We've updated all the refurbishments (links below) through May 2008, MegaCon has new Media Guests and we've added the new Disaster! A Major Motion Picture Ride (at least what we know of it right now).
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Disney Studios Refurbishments
Animal Kingdom Refurbishments
Typhoon Lagoon Refurbishments
Blizzard Beach Refurbishments
As always if you want to know right away what changes have been made to the site or if you have a question or comment about the site, Theme Parks or Orlando Attractions/Shopping/Dining pop right on over to the Discussion Board and one of the board members or OrlandoRocks Staff will be happy to respond.
Hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween and enjoy your week.

What's New This Week
Well, there is actually new content for me to tell you all about this week. Russ is back from his cruise and brought back a ton of pictures. He hasn't had a chance to give the photos descriptions or a review of the cruise yet but he has gotten them up on the site already. They can be found by clicking here...Royal Caribbean Cruise or by clicking on the link under New Content on the HOMEPAGE.
I've been making great strides at getting the DCA photos all classified so that they show up under their proper attraction. Make sure you check them all out. I've also began work on adding Busch Gardens Europe and it's attractions to the site. What has been completed so far can be found by clicking here...Busch Gardens Europe or by clicking on the link under New Content on the HOMEPAGE. You'll want to keep checking back too because more is going to be added almost daily (not promising daily because I do have a life).
The Discussion Board has been pretty quiet lately but with summer and vacations that is usually what happens. Make sure you stop by the board and become a member though. It's the best way to keep in contact with other OrlandoRocks guests and the staff.
To all those Fathers out there...Hope you have a safe and Happy Father's Day! Enjoy every minute of it. And until next week, safe journey!
6/9/2007 12:00:00 AM
Finally Another What's New
Okay, Okay! So I haven't added a What's New in a long time. Well things have been really hectic around here and all to your benefit! The process of splitting up Disney's California Adventure, DisneyLand and Universal Hollywood got underway and with that pictures also had to be re-classified. Disney's California Adventure is completed, although not all of the pictures have been re-classified yet so be patient.
The staff at OrlandoRocks also took a much needed little over a week off to do some vacationing, once again to your benefit (but mostly ours). I took a trip to VA and got the opportunity to visit Busch Gardens Europe (Williamsburg) and Mount Airy (I know you have NO IDEA what that is but it'll be added to the site and then you'll know). These two attractions will be added to the site soon with lots of pictures. Russ on the other hand went on a cruise and I'm sure he's burning up the digital and video cameras to bring you all back some great shots.
There has also been some time taken off for medical reasons that stopped most of the updating for the last week but that couldn't be helped and I apologize. Keep watching though because the site is growing by leaps and bounds and we'll be bringing you all the information that we can ASAP.
Have a good week!
4/22/2007 12:00:00 AM
Lots of New Stuff to Check Out!
Sorry I'm late getting this to you but I had a busy couple of days! This last week was busy PERIOD! We have tons of new updates and some site news to give you.
To begin with, we've changed some of the locations on the site. We use to have East Coast as one of the locations but in adding new things to that location we realized that we were going to need to break them up into separate areas. Make sure you check out the two new East Coast locations, Cocoa Vicinity and Daytona Vicinity. This is just a jumping off point though. In the future we are going to be adding new attractions to these two areas and bringing you more areas from the East Coast so keep checking back.
We've added a lot of new attractions to the site also this last week. We've added the I-Ride Trolley, Mount Dora, Fort Christmas Historical Park, Stallion 51 (which I think is the most interesting additions to the site and should definitely be looked at), SunCruz Casino Cruises, Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards, Richard Petty Driving Experience at WDW Resorts, Historic Bok Sanctuary and Green Meadows Petting Farm and we've also updated Star Wars Weekends to include the list of actors that are appearing, Night of Joy, Rock the Universe, Margaritaville 4th of July Party and the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. Usually the best place to find out, other than right here, what is new or updated on the site is on the homepage under New Content but we added and updated so much this week that there just wasn't enough room. Russ has also fixed the videos so that they now show the size again and he's added some new videos to the sites already massive collection. Make sure you check out the new videos of Meet Donkey, Steve Miller and Donna Summer from Mardi Gras and everybody's favorite purple dinosaur, Barney.
IMPORTANT AND EXCITING SITE NEWS!!! On Friday, April 19th all content had been successfully moved over to the new server and Russ, with a lot of fanfare (not really but we felt there should've been), finally shutdown the old server. If any of you notice anything that isn't working correctly please let us know by sending us a post on the (I'm sure you've just been waiting for me to bring this up) Discussion Board.
Speaking of the Discussion Board, it's really starting to pick up and we appreciate all the questions and comments we've received. Keep up the good work and it's never too busy for new members!
On a more somber note, our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone at Virginia Tech and especially to the family and friends of the fallen victims and to those still fighting to recover from this senseless crime. Bless and have a good week.
4/13/2007 12:00:00 AM
Back From Vacation
Vacation is over and now it's back to work!
It looks like Russ finished getting all the videos moved over to the new server. The sizes aren't all showing up yet but be assured that he is on top of the matter. If you haven't watched any of the videos you really should. They're wonderful!
We have been continuing our never-ending job of updating some of the older pages. Make sure you take the time to check out what is new and updated under New Content on the homepage. This is the best way to keep up with what we are working on.
The Epcot Flower and Garden Festival is in full-swing so keep watching for new photos and videos from this year's event and check out the ones from previous years. This is one of the most popular events at Epcot (or actually WDW Resorts) so if you get the chance get out there and enjoy.
This is the last weekend for Mardi Gras at Universal Studios. This week's performer is KC and the Sunshine Band. They are also some of the best performers (don't laugh, it's true) that play at the event. I had the opportunity to see Daughtry last weekend and if you'd like to read a short review of the concert, one can be found on the Discussion Board.
Speaking of the Discussion Board, we are starting to get new members and we hope you are one of them. As I've said several times in the past, this is a great way to learn more about the site, us as people instead of machines that bring you information on Orlando and to let us know what questions, concerns, additions, etc...that you'd like to have addressed. Make sure you take the time to go and register to the board and let us know what you think.
We hope you all had a wonderful Easter and that you stay safe and keep visiting!

Hello From OrlandoRocks
Once again it seems like a week that hasn't had much progress on the site but there has been. There has been quite a bit going on behind the scenes. One of our wonderful visitors brought it to our attentions, through a post on the Discussion Board, that some of the videos were not working. Russ has been working hard to get all of the videos moved over to the new server. Thank you elephantadam for bringing this to our attention. Russ has also been busy tweaking some things on the site that probably aren't noticeable to you but does make a difference on our side and in the speed of the site.
I, on the other hand, am taking a two-week vacation in Orlando so I'm not getting a lot of updates done to the site but I am doing research for some new additions, updates and taking pictures to add to the already huge collection.
That is about all I have to report this week. I will try to keep up with the Discussion Board, although there is so much going on I won't be on as much as usual and Russ will keep working on the videos until he has them all transferred over. Until next week, have a great weekend.
3/22/2007 12:00:00 AM
Site Move to New Server
It seems like not much has gotten done this week but this has probably been the busiest week so far this year. Russ has been diligently working on getting the site moved to the new server. In the process you may have experienced some problems getting to the site or noticed some minor glitches, as always happens in a transition like this. We are working, well Russ is working on them and I'm complaining about them, to get all of these issues resolved. If you encounter any problems please make sure you go to the Discussion Board and let us know what problems you are having. This will better help us (okay, once again Russ) to know what problems are occurring so he can get them taken care of.
There have been some updates to the site this week though. There are new facts for Magic Kingdom, Disney-MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom and EPCOT with more to come in the next week or two. There have also been some new additions to the Las Vegas side of the site. The new additions can be easily reached by clicking on the links on the homepage under New Content.
As always, we want to thank you for visiting the site and hope you keep coming back because there are a lot of wonderful things ahead.

New Server and More
Wow I can't believe it is already March 16th. This year is just flying by and the updates are flying right along with it. There are new facts, attractions, information and photos being added and updated almost daily so make sure you keep coming back and checking the New Content on the homepage.
For those of you that still aren't going to the Discussion Board (you know who you are and yes, I am talking to you!) Russ posted some great news for the site yesterday. He has purchased a new server that will not only be a lot faster but also will give us a lot more room to bring you all the wonderful happenings that are going on at the parks and Orlando. He has given quite a few details on the new server so rush, now!, over to the Discussion Board to see what all the excitement is about. This is also a great way to know when new photos and information is added and to let us know what you think of the site and Orlando.
Russ has already made a trip over to the construction site for Aquatic and taken some great pictures of all that is going on over there. It looks great so far! Not just a pile of dirt but some actual tubing going up. Make sure you keep checking back as I'm sure he'll be going by there often.
For those of you that are interested, donations are still being taken for the Relay for Life. Donations can be made by credit card very easily by clicking here but if you can't pay online there is a form that can be printed and sent in. This is a very worthwhile event and OrlandoRocks are so happy to be able to help Lance and Kerry from Screamscape with this wonderful cause.
Disney's Wide World of Sports has finally been added to the site so make sure you keep an eye on it. There is a lot we want to do with this part of the site but it is time consuming so be patient, as you always are.
Last but not least, let us be the first to wish all of you a "Happy and Safe St. Patrick's Day" and as always have a great week!

Still Updating and Adding Content
Hey there! How has everybody been the last week?
We are still in the process of updating the site and adding new content. The Las Vegas side of the site is once again growing but it's a slow process. There is just so much to do! Please make sure that when you come to the site you check out what has been added under New Content on the homepage. That is the best way to find out what is new to the site. The other way is, I know I sound like a broken record (remember records?), the Discussion Board.
Hopefully you've heard by now that SeaWorld is building a new water park, Aquatica, that is going to be located on International Drive across the street from SeaWorld Orlando. This project is suppose to be completed by next year so you'll want to keep an eye on the Aquatica page for construction photos. Russ is going to be making regular trips over there to keep you up-to-date on how things are going.
We do finally have a date for the opening of the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor at Magic Kingdom. Word now is that the official opening will be on April 2nd. Now it is just a waiting game to see if they change it again or not.
That is about all this week. Keep watching as OrlandoRocks grows though. You won't want to miss some of the wonderful things we have coming to you!
3/1/2007 12:00:00 AM
What's New Again!
I told you that you guys might get a second report this week so here it is!
Photos from MegaCon 2007 are up on the site so make sure you take the time to check them out. Also, the dates for next years MegaCon are out with next year's ticket prices. That information can also be found on the MegaCon page.
Once again, I wanted to remind you guys to take advantage of the Discussion Board. It's a great way to keep up with what is going on with the site and give your comments and opinions.
Well that's about it for this week. Hope you all have a great weekend!
2/27/2007 12:00:00 AM
Cypress Gardens Completed!
Hey there! You guys may be getting more than one What's New story out of me this week but I just couldn't resist letting you all know what's been going on the last week.
Well, the Cypress Gardens side of the site is finally completed! YEAH!!!!! I still need to go through the pics we have already and classify them but there is a ton of information and facts already in place that you guys shouldn't miss out on. I thought I knew a lot about this park but after researching it I was surprised at what I found out.
Also, I sent Russ a ton of pictures yesterday so hopefully he'll get a chance to get them on the site for me to classify (I'm not rushing you Russ, I know you are extremely busy). I'll let you all know as soon as that is completed. There are pictures from MegaCon that I can't wait to get on the site for you all to see. Hopefully you all had a chance to check out the MegaCon review and enjoyed it. I'd love to get your feedback on that. There were also some pics from Mardi Gras for Russ to add to his already great selection of pictures (I just added some from him including some new ones from the Donna Summer concert that you all should check out).
That brings us to the Discussion Board. We are finally starting to get some new members, or rather old returning members. I would like to welcome the old members back. You guys kept the board thriving for years and we hope we can get it back to that. Hope you all enjoy the new board and are patient as work is still being done on it. To all the new members, it's wonderful to have you and I hope you have a great time posting with us and tell your friends about our wonderful site. The board is a great way for us to get your opinions on the site, like what you'd like to see added, as well as what is going on in Orlando, get answers to questions (you wouldn't believe how knowledgable some of our readers are) or just to stay in touch with our many internet friends.
I think that is it for now. Hope you all have a great week and keep enjoying OrlandoRocks!

What's Up at OrlandoRocks
Hey there everybody! Hope you guys are having a great February. Things at OrlandoRocks have really been busy. I just returned from an extremely busy 3 days in Orlando. It took me two days to recover from my mini-vacation. While in Orlando we had the opportunity to go to Mardi Gras. We had a fantastic time. Got to see Huey Lewis and the News. They weren't the best band I'd ever seen but it was still great fun. The crowds are always what makes this event so much fun. If you've never gotten the opportunity to go you should make a point to try to get there.
MegaCon was the real reason we visited Orlando this weekend. It was a lot more fun and larger than what I was expecting. Make sure you check out my review and keep watching for photos from the event soon.
While in town we also spent some time at CityWalk. Most of the time we just breeze through on our way into or out of the parks but this time we made a point of spending some time just wandering through. The Glow! store is totally unrecognizable now. The doorway is even totally different. We had the chance to eat at both the newly renovated NASCAR and the new Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.. We enjoyed both and would highly recommend either one.
We also went to Islands of Adventure and had a wonderful time, as usual. I'm amazed at the fact that this park is fun for me no matter how many times I visit it.
We are still updating the site. Right now a lot of work is being done on the Cypress Gardens side of the site and hopefully either myself or Russ will be making the journey to this wonderful park soon to bring you new pictures of the park. Of course, I'll be letting you know when that happens right here in What's New.
Until later, enjoy life, smile at everyone you see, take time to stop and smell the roses and make sure you visit OrlandoRocks often for all that makes Orlando famous.

More Updates to OrlandoRocks
Hello again! Just another installment of What's New at OrlandoRocks. Things are progressing on the updates to the site and we are all very excited. Hopefully you've taken the time to go through the site and check out all the changes.
Mardi Gras is now entering it's third week at Universal Studios and Russ and Kelli-Ann have taken some great photos and written a small review of the Donna Summer concert (which can be found at this link Donna Summer). There is a video coming to the site of her concert too. I know I can't wait to see it.
I'm getting ready for my journey to MegaCon. As you know this is the first year OrlandoRocks has covered this convention and we are looking forward to bringing you pictures and a review next week. Also, while I'm in Orlando I'm going to be making my way over to Mardi Gras and a whole day at IOA so look for some reviews and pics from my visit.
Make sure you check out the Discussion Board for reviews, information and more. Also, we'd love to hear what you all are up to so make sure you post your reviews, questions, comments or suggestion on the forum.
That's about all for now. Enjoy the site and see you next week!

OrlandoRocks Hits 25000 Pics and More
Here we are once again giving you all the heads-up of What's New at OrlandoRocks. We have hit a real milestone with putting the 25000th photo up on the site. We aren't going to stop there though. Keep watching for lots more to come. 50000 HERE WE COME!
We are still in the midst of doing updates and adding new content. You can find all the new content on the homepage, make sure you check those out. The Las Vegas side of the site is getting ready to grow too (we fed it some super powered site food!). There are tons of hotels and attractions that we want to get added to that side.
Also, in the next couple of weeks some of the staff is going to be making their way over to the Convention Center to bring you pictures and a review of MegaCon. This is the first year that OrlandoRocks has brought this event to you and we're excited to be a part of the action.
Last but not least, make sure you check out the Discussion Board and post any questions or comments you have. We are also interested in how you think the site is doing and any new content you'd like to see on the site or covered on the board.
Hope you all have a great time on the site!

Updates on OrlandoRocks
Hey! Believe it or not we are here once again with more of "What's New" at OrlandoRocks. This is two weeks in a row!
Once again we have been busy updating and adding a lot to the site. Most of Disney has now been updated (except for Downtown Disney and Boardwalk) including the water parks which seen the addition of some new slides and restaurants (links are below) and a huge update to the Disney Cruise Line page.
Polar Bear Pool Bar
Crush 'n' Gusher
Sandy White Beach
We also added some new stories to Rumors and News so make sure you check that out.
In the coming weeks we are going to keep moving forward on the updates. Keep watching for new photos (hopefully) from Mardi Gras because we plan to bring them to you as soon as possible.
On a personal note, today is our esteemed leader, Russ', birthday. The staff here at OrlandoRocks would like you to join us in wishing him a "Very Happy Birthday".
1/11/2007 12:00:00 AM
We hope you all had a wonderful holiday. We enjoyed family and good friends and the spirit of the season was flowing.
There has been a lot going on at OrlandoRocks the past couple of weeks. We have some new/old help and the site is starting to perk up with lots more to come in 2007! We have updated a lot of the pages and added a lot of new content , which can be found on our HOMEPAGE.
One of the biggest changes came with the expansion of the Vegas side of the site. Make sure you check it out and keep coming back often to the site for all the new content and updates. And we'll keep bringing you more and more as the new year continues.

We've also update information on Monster Jam, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and the Flower and Garden Festival all upcoming events for 2005.
We also added a ton of new photos and a video from the Macys Parade at USF and have been adding a lot of stories to the Rumors/News section.

Okay, I know it's been a long time since anything has been put in here. And yes, I know that we've had a lot of other things going on. But, we are back hard at work on the site and one of the first things that I'm going to tell you about is a little on the strange side.
We've put one of the first versions of OrlandoRocks back up on the web for you guys to see. With the New Year only hours away maybe we're getting a bit nostalgic or maybe we just thought it would be cool for you guys to see how far we've come in just a few short (OMG, it's been almost 6 years!) time.
The link to the site is: Old OrlandoRocks Site
Check it out and let us know what you all think.
We'll be getting around to letting you all know about some other things going on shortly.

More New Videos
We've added a load of new videos thanks to Mike Supinski. He was kind enough to give us some great videos of IOA and USF from now and the early days. The best way to find the new videos (for those of you that subscribe to the videos) is to go to USF or IOA and click on the video button.
Work is also continuing on the new version of the site and it's coming along really great. We're also working on more photos and videos so keep checking back for more information on all of the new happenings.

New this Week
We're still busy at work trying to bring new content to the site. We've added so much recently that, in case you haven't noticed, New Content on the homepage has had to be extended to include 9 attractions. Recently we've added photos of Festival Bay and updated the description and added Hollywood Classics and Ron Jon Surf Shop
We've also been diligently working on the new version of OrlandoRocks. We've been working on the new version for over six months now and it's really starting to come along. We will give you more information on the new version when it gets closer to completion.

There has been a lot going on at OrlandoRocks lately. I took a much needed vacation to Ohio where I had the opportunity of visiting Paramount's Kings Island and Cedar Point. I had a wonderful time. I've put up some photos of the parks and more will be coming soon. I will also be adding a couple of trip reports to the discussion board when I get the chance so keep checking.
The videos are back online which seems to have pleased quite a few people. There is a nominal fee now to view the videos which covers the cost of bandwidth only. If you're interested you can see a list of videos available by clicking on the video camera (on most pages) and then clicking where told.
We are continuing our work on some behind the scenes things and will once again be adding more photos to the site soon so keep an eye on the site for new additions and information.

What's New at OrlandoRocks
I have had the pleasure of riding Revenge of the Mummy quite a few times now and I still love it. I took some photos of the queue area so I suggest you go check them out. They definitely show just how dark this area is.
I also took a trip out to Epcot on April 17th to get pictures of this years International Flower and Garden Festival. The plants and flowers are spectacular, as they have been every year, and I really advise everyone to go to this wonderful event if you are in the area.
The Discussion Board is still growing with leaps and bounds with new members registering and posting everyday so make sure you register to the board and post often. Jo, Sharon (Poohface Returns), Mike(Sunshine State), and Pete (Ice Dragon) are doing a great job and are there to try to help answer any questions you might have about the parks or the site.
Within the weeks to come we are going to keep working on some behind the scenes things and try to bring more new photos to the site. We will keep you all informed of our progress and let you know "What's New".

Revenge of the Mummy and Discussion Board
On Monday March 29th I got the pleasure of riding Revenge of the Mummy. It was totally awesome! I've added a review of the ride so make sure you check it out.
We've been doing a lot of work lately to update the Discussion Board. We've added some new forums and have started working on fixing some problems. We've also added a new Administrator, Jo, who I've know for about 5 years and who has been posting since the board first opened. We have also added two new moderators, Sunshine State and Poohface Returns. I hope you all take the time to stop by the boards and post.
1/19/2004 12:00:00 AM
This past week has been a busy one but we still took time to visit a couple attractions and make updates. First of all, if you haven't had the chance to go to the Hard Rock Vault make the time. It's a very cool attraction. Second, we had the opportunity to go to the Sleuth's Mystery Dinner Shows and were thrilled. The show and the meal were terrific.
Keep checking back to find out "What's New".
1/9/2004 12:00:00 AM
We at OrlandoRocks have been hard at work. Since the last What's New we have updated several things that we think are quite interesting. First of all Tony Hawk will be returning to CityWalk with his Skate Bash 2004. This event will be held this Saturday so check it out. There are new photos of the Moteurs construction going on over at Disney-MGM Studios on the stunt show. And last but definitely not least we have gotten some information on this years Mardi Gras celebration at Universal Studios.
On a sadder note: It seems Central Florida is saying goodbye to one of Pointe Orlandos biggest shops FAO Schwarz. This store always seemed to be pretty busy and was a really fun place to, even if you didn't buy anything, go look around in. There was always a lot of toys to try out and who could resist playing the piano like they did in the movie "Big".
You are definitely going to want to keep checking back because we have a lot going on in the next couple of weeks and will be adding new content to the site constantly.
1/2/2004 12:00:00 AM
Bringing you new information
We at OrlandoRocks have already been busy in 2004 to bring you some new information and update some things. We have updated the Monster Jam page to include this years upcoming event, the Silver Springs page now has the information for the 2004 Concert Series, and new to the site is the Florida Film Festival. We are also going to be updating with some new photos in the next few days so make sure you keep checking back for all the new things in 2004!

Happy New Year
Happy New Year Everyone!
We look forward to brining new features to the site this year and appreciate you visits.

Lots of New Content
Merry Christmas! You will find tons of new content around the site. Macy's Parade, Grinchmas, the new Gforce attraction at OldTown, and the Pop Century Resort at Disney.
10/31/2003 12:00:00 AM
As we promissed we got out to Capones Dinner and Show, Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament. We have posted photos and reviews on each page.
We have also been very busy on the backend of OrlandoRocks. We are hoping to launch many new features and an improved look early next year.
10/14/2003 12:00:00 AM
Orlando Rocks Out and About
Well we have been pretty busy working on the site (some behind the scenes that I'm sure you can't tell) and getting out to some of the attractions. We, as mentioned in the last update, got out to Halloween Horror Nights 13 on the opening night but we have also had the opportunity to visit the Arabian Nights which was fantastic. Make sure you visit both of those pages for photos of the events. And that is just the beginning. In the next couple of weeks we will be visiting Capones Dinner and Show, Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament, and Howl-O-Scream so make sure you keep watching for the new photos.
Thanks and enjoy!!!
10/4/2003 12:00:00 AM
Halloween Horror Nights 13
Let me start this out by saying "WOW!!!" When they said that this was going to be the best HHN ever they weren't joking. We had the pleasure of being at the Media Blitz on Friday night and are so glad we accepted the invitation. They opened HHN13 with all the gore, guts, and blood curdling screams that we have come to expect from Universal Orlando but there are no words to explain the amount of work that must have went into this year's opening.
It all began with some of the "scaracters" coming out to warn those in attendance that they should leave immediately. These "scaracters" were fantastic but the best was yet to come. After a few prophecies from Reverend Jesse, diagnosis of pending doom from the Doctor, and insane antics of June and her friend the star of the show finally arrived, THE DIRECTOR. He was escorted in by some of his evil guard and to say these "scaracters" are spine tingling is an understatement. The Director is at HHN13 to film his new horror movie and is looking for his first victim (I mean, star) to film a scene to open HHN13. This whole presentation was spectacular. Needless to say as the scene unfolds in front of you the realization that maybe you should've turned around and went home becomes ominous.
As far as the haunted houses, Bill and Ted's show, and the overall atmosphere you will definitely, if you get the chance, want to experience it on your own. We have added some photos from this night and will be adding more as the weeks pass. Keep checking back to the individual pages for upcoming updates on all of the HHN13 attractions and more.
9/27/2003 12:00:00 AM
We at OrlandoRocks have been busy updating the site and doing some behind the scenes maintenance lately. We have recently updated the Halloween Horror Nights 13 and Howl - O - Scream pages as well as the Orlando Beer Festival, Epcot's Food and Wine Festival, and many of the CityWalk locations. We have also added Refurbishments to the WDW Resort locations to better help our viewers plan their trips to the parks. Make sure you check all of this out and give us your feedback on what you think.
We would also like send out a big "Thanks!" to everyone that has kept the discussion board alive during this time. Without all of you caring about the site we wouldn't be able to keep it going.

Orlando Rocks News
Well we have finally moved into our new house and have it almost looking normal. It was rough but well worth it. Now it is back to work on the site. Thanks to everyone for your patience during this time and we hope to start bringing you the great coverage we strive to give.

Orlando Rocks News
Although we here at OrlandoRocks have never done this before we fell we need to let you all in to more of our personal lives. The site has not been updated lately for several reasons. For one, I am purchasing a new house which takes up a lot of time and second, but definitely not least, we lost a dear friend recently. She was a wonderful person who enjoyed the parks and understood our purpose completely. She will be greatly missed and all of our love and sympathy go out to her daughter and those who knew her.
6/7/2003 12:00:00 AM
Getting better all the time!
You have probably noticed new content every week and sometimes many times in a week. Although I have created the routines to add content quickly updating what’s new still takes time.
I am working to create a routing for detecting new content and then automatically update what’s new. But for now poke around and you will see dozens of updates on the best current and upcoming attractions in Orlando.
You will also see lot’s of subtle but very effective changes scattered through-out the site. The site map on the first page has replaced multiple links. This site map will continue to improve to allows for a one stop spot to navigate the entire site.
5/9/2003 12:00:00 AM
Lot's of behind the scenes things going on here at OrlandoRocks. We have been working on a new site map and a few more changes that will make the site more interactive. And as usual, we are getting more and more photos and videos and adding content almost everyday. Also, we are gearing up for the opening of the new Shrek 4D at Universal Studios, the Waterfront at SeaWorld, and the Haunted Lighthouse at Busch Gardens. We are going to have a couple of busy days to bring you photos, videos, and information on these new attractions. Make sure you keep checking back to keep abreast of the new features and content.
4/18/2003 12:00:00 AMThe Islands of Adventure Mat Hoffman’s Freakin Stunt Show photos and video
Photos of the new design on the Disney MGM Studios Sorcerers Hat
Updated construction photos of the Dixie Stampede and The Convention Center

You will probably notice lot’s of new content on the site including:
Lot’s more to come…. Stay tuned…
4/5/2003 12:00:00 AM
Just because we don’t update what’s new does not mean there is not a lot going on. Over the last month we have added over 100 videos and over 1,000 photos. We have also managed to update the description of a few hundred attractions.
New content is king though, so we had to go see Jimmy Neutron opening at Universal Studios and share the fun with you.
Look for more frequent updates this month and lot’s of new features
3/4/2003 12:00:00 AM
Well the good news is you will see lot’s of new content and improvements to our existing content. Almost all 13,000+ photos now have descriptions!. You will also see more videos and about 500 more photos in just the last two weeks.
The better news (at least for us) is that the backend re-write of our content management routines in .Net is coming along well. This will allow us to do some pretty cool things quickly to the site, the preparation and learning is what takes the time, so stay tuned!
2/19/2003 12:00:00 AM
Quite a few things actually; Photo of Shrek Construction, Seaworld Constuction, Setup for Mardi-Gras and ton's more.
2/15/2003 12:00:00 AM
You will find a couple hundred new photos scattered about the site. Mostly Disneys AllStar Music and AllStar Movies. We also added quite a few photos that we were missing of Islands of Adventure.
You might also notice that many of the descriptions have been updated along with links within the text to related items.
2/11/2003 12:00:00 AM
Whats New 2/11/2003
I tore myself away from development on the other sites to update the Dixie Stampede and Convention Center photos. I also added the park hours out for the next few months.
Thanks for your patience as we bring the site to the next level.
2/1/2003 12:00:00 AM
Whats new and Whats Not
You might have noticed the site has “stalled” a bit this past month, but with good reason. I have made the commitment to do all new web development in Microsoft .NET. This will allow Orlandorocks.com and my other 20+ sites to move to the next level. In the meantime, it is a heck of a lot of learning and work. Thanks for your patience as I bring OrlandoRocks.com forward.
1/1/2003 12:00:00 AM
Happy New Year!
We have been working mostly on back-end and infrastructure related items which will allow us to have others participate in keeping the sites content updated
We did manage to take video and photos of Macy’s Parade at Universal though.
12/2/2002 12:00:00 AM
Updated Whats New

11/9/2002 12:00:00 AM
Most of the work on the site is still concentrated on the back-end. As many of you know OrlandoRocks is what as know as a dynamic site. It is completely database driven. That’s how we can maintain the world’s largest on-line collection of photos, videos and content on Orlando (that we know of).
This provides us with many advantages:
Hundreds of photos can be ‘thumbed’, put into categories, and be up on the web in minutes.
Date driven information can automatically activate and de-activate
OrlandoRocks content can be edited by us from anywhere through a web browser.
All photo positions can be arrange via web browser
These capabilities will allow us to bring OrlandoRocks forward very quickly. But it posed one problem (for us). Namely, search engines do not like dynamic sites per-se, and much of the content we have is never found. So we have created a very unique program that will maintain a static version of OrlandoRocks automatically. This will allows the tens of thousands of phrases within OrlandoRocks ex: Tower of Terror to be found by the search engines.
Why do we bring this up and why have we spent the last month concentration on this. Getting these pages out into the engines and able to be found will bring more traffic to the site, improved the number of conversation on the discussion board and allows us to get more news from people out in the parks.
So in essence if we can drive traffic it will improve the OrlandoRocks experience. We have upgraded our server to handle incredible traffic in preparation for this.
A full explanation and online demonstration of the dynamic editing capabilities of Orlando Rocks will be available shortly. We hope to provide these routines to others so that they may reap the benefits of a full content management system.
It is quite difficult to explain some of this but as I often say “the proof is in the pudding”, wait to you see the batch we are coming up with.
10/22/2002 12:00:00 AMPhotos of the Food and Wine Festival
Photos of Mall at Millenia

Updated construction photos of the Convention Center
Update construction photos of The Dixie Stampede
Added a dozen or so panoramas (link on first page)

The biggest news is the we purchased a new server that will become the primary server. The existing server will become a backup server. This was necessary due to the traffic that OrlandoRocks has been enjoying. The new server will be located at a very high bandwidth location. The entire site should be much faster, and the and downtime should be virtually eliminated. The new server has been set up and has been shipped to it’s new home. It will be on-line Monday at the latest.
That is not all that is new though:

I have been working a lot with video production and hope to have a much better video navigation system and video up soon. Check back!
1/12/2002 12:00:00 AM
As some of you may know OrlandoRocks started a couple of years ago, as a spot to put my daily construction photos of Islands of Adventure. The site grew and grew and so did the things to take pictures of. But alas, it seems that construction is going to be at a slower pace for a while. So! OrlandoRocks is going to focus in on adding more features. Stay tuned, and for now enjoy the updated construction photos for 2002!
12/26/2001 12:00:00 AM
Whats New? Honestly not much, at least on the Orlando Rocks site. Those of you that have been visiting OrlandoRocks for a while know that I created this site a couple of years ago as a vehicle to help learn database driven web sites and other web technologies such as DNS, POP mail, monitoring, etc. I built a content management system and many servers during the course of the development.
During this last year though, my focus has been on an E-Commerce suite of products I have been building. Hopefully I will be able to apply my new skills to OrlandoRocks soon. In the meantime, if any of you happen to have construction photo going forward, please send them to me. I do not get out to the parks as much as I used to. Thanks!
11/4/2001 12:00:00 AM
Wow it's about time I checked in!. Actually you probably noticed I have been keeping up on the construction pics pretty well. I have been working on other projects so Orlando Rocks has remained about the same with the exception of added content over the past few months. I did a few improvements though, including updating the menus and fixing a few problems. Actually a lot of problems, I lost two server over the past few months and rebuilding all of my site 3 times has been quite time consuming.
6/19/2001 12:00:00 AM
A lot has been going on behind the scenes at Orlando Rocks. We have continued to develop our content managment tools. We will be adding new type of information over the next couple of months. We are going to kick it off with news feeds and upcoming events. You will see these additions to the first page. There is much more around the corner though. So Stay tuned.
Oh yeah, and as allways our photos, video, sound and links collection has been growing, if you have not poked around a bit, then you should.
5/3/2001 12:00:00 AM
A round robin trip to the parks, before I head off to VEGAS!, I couldn’t go with leaving you an update though. You will find a bunch of new construction pictures from every park attraction under construction.
4/20/2001 12:00:00 AM
You may have noticed that I am updating the construction photos every week. I have also been making many small changes and adding content. I have added more pictures to the random pictures on the first page. I have added support for logos in each attraction.
3/18/2001 12:00:00 AM
The first page has been greatly improved I replaced two of the java fades with important links. It should now be much easier to get to the good stuff. I also added a number of construction photos taken Saturday March 17th.
3/10/2001 12:00:00 AM
You kidding Right? We have improved the navigation and functionality of the site a great deal in the last month. The full size photos now have a description and a back button - We have added a construction button to the navigation. We have a recent photos section which will allow us to have weekly picture and construction updates. Actually there is too much to mention - So look around the site has really moved forward.
2/26/2001 12:00:00 AM
There has been a lot going on behind the scenes at Orlando Rocks. I have built a content management system that should help propel Orlando Rocks forward. We have made quite a few improvments around the site too - so poke around and tell your friends.
2/5/2001 12:00:00 AM
Lots of progress
Site Improved: The login routine on the main page now passes your credentials to the discussion board so that you can automatically log on. We have also created a newsletter. You can opt in and opt out at anytime. You will also notice that we have been adding to the description on the parks and rides. now that the Orlando Rocks framework is nearly complete you should see much more soon. We also have a few surpises up our sleeves so stay tuned.

No to rest soley on that the first page is about to become much more dynamic. You may have already noticed the fading text, this is database driven, but this is only the beginning stay tuned.
